Home alone and wanting in barcelona
The Home Alone movies have endured as classics due in no small part to their underlying sadism. They were, of course, played for comedic effect, but were so severe they had director Chris Columbus worried for the stuntman. I really thought Troy, our stunt man, had broken his back on that first take. The last 20 minutes of that movie, seeing it in a theater was unlike anything I had experienced as a filmmaker because people were just screaming with laughter. It was great.

Stay Homas: The Roommates Writing Quarantine Songs In Their Barcelona Apartment : NPR
On the surface, it looked like the McCallister family had the right idea for Christmas : Get the whole gang together and jet off to some location to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. I mean, Buzz was three decades away from becoming an anti-vaxxer, while Uncle Frank is secretly a time-travelling Alan Harper in disguise. For any normal parent, that would send shivers down their spine and ensure their child is always close by. Having that sheer amount of whininess is enough to drive any parent up the wall. Maybe we can just forget about him and enjoy a couple of days without him? Since they did it the first time, it gets easier to do it over and over again.

Club examines film franchises, studying how they change and evolve with each new installment. No John Hughes screenplay. No Christopher Columbus direction. They assumed audiences were deeply invested in the ongoing saga of the McCallisters. The first two Home Alone s are the only two that are any good, and both owe their success to three people.

Fuller was designated to sleep on the hide-a-bed with his cousin Kevin during the night before their Christmas trip to France. This was much to Kevin's disappointment, since Fuller was a notorious bed-wetter. While the family packed for the trip, Fuller looked at a magazine when his sister Tracy came in and asked if he knew where the shampoo was, to which he responded that he did not live there.
